Cat Health Problems: Your Curiosity Could Save Your Cat

Cat Health Problems: Your Curiosity Could Save Your Cat

(PRWEB) February 21, 2005

There are many websites out there on the World Wide Web that specialize in cats and cat-related issues, including cat health problems, cat health symptoms and cat health insurance. The expert, of course, is your veterinarian, but if you keep yourself informed and actively involved in your cat’s health life you could well save your cat from any health-related discomfort. Early detection of any ailment is the only way to help your cat live happier and longer.

You can start with a web search or you can ask your veterinarian to recommend a website that he or she may also find useful. There are websites that offer access to databases full of all the information you could ever need about your cat’s health needs.

Information on common illnesses or illnesses specific to certain breeds can be found online, which can also help you to be aware of the potential health problems that your pet could face.

But keeping informed about your cat’s health is not based on just negative information. You’ll find positive information and advice on nutrition, vitamins, pet toys and supplies to keep your cat happier and healthier.

The most common cat health problems are colds, bite wounds, digestive problems, urinary problems and diarrhea, and eye problems.

Cats are sensitive to many respiratory viruses and infections. Fighting can lead to various wounds. Eyes are particularly sensitive to feline fights. A sure sign of a cat’s health ailing is if he or she stops eating and isn’t interested in playing. Wounds should certainly be treated immediately, but if your cat is eating and playing as normal, then you’ve no real need to worry.

Fleas are also a common problem with cats, especially if your cat spends a lot of time outside. Tapeworm and other parasites are common problems too and often cause symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. Visit your veterinarian if you notice any of these symptoms.

Cat health insurance is a popular choice these days and it is something to consider, albeit carefully. There are insurance companies online that specialize in pet insurance. You can get a quote online and even pay online. The positive aspects of having cat insurance is that if you cat does fall ill or have an accident the insurance will cover part or all of the veterinary bill. Some insurance companies even say they’ll cover the cost of advertising for lost cats. As with all insurance packages you should read the fine print before paying for anything.

Feline-Cat-Health.info is a source of information related to cat and feline health care, and other cat related resources. Feline-Cat-Health.info also offers a newsletter, the latest cat news feeds, and features related articles and reviews.

Feline-Cat-Health.info provides up-to-date directory information and resources for the latest web content online today, to help individuals research and obtain the most current information about health care for all the different cat breeds.

Dog Owners and Dog Daycares Take Notice: The Top Six Diseases You Need to Watch for in Dogs

Dog Owners and Dog Daycares Take Notice: The Top Six Diseases You Need to Watch for in Dogs

Waterloo, ON (PRWEB) May 30, 2007

As a dog owner, or dog care giver it is important to be aware of the major diseases to keep an eye on when interacting with dogs. Veterinary Pet Insurance (the number one provider of pet insurance in America) recently released a report on the most common diseases clients file claims for.

The six most common diseases are as follows:

1) Skin allergies

2) Ear infections

3) Stomach upsets

4) Urinary tract infection

5) Benign Tumors

6) Pyoderma (hot spots/bacterial skin infections)

According to DogDayCare-Experts.com, as the owner or caregiver of a dog it can be expected that the dog will experience at least one of these problems during their lifetime. Skin allergies, Ear infections, and Pyoderma can be found during any stage of a dog’s life. While an upset stomach may be more prevalent in puppies because of their tendency to chew and eat everything in sight. Tumors, Skin diseases, and Arthritis will be more common with older dogs.

It’s hard to prevent a dog from getting an infection or disease, but… it is possible to minimize the affects of disease by spending a lot of time with your dog and catching these problems as early as possible. When one spends quality time petting and playing with a dog it is easy to realize that a dog has sore joints or skin infections. By catching these problems in the early stages it is possible to greatly reduce the effect some of these diseases can have on a dog.

Dog owners and especially Dog Daycares should keep these top six diseases dogs get in mind. It is important for someone who runs a Dog Daycare to do a daily check on each dog to ensure they do not have any fleas, skin infections, sore joints, or lumps anywhere on their body. Running a Dog Daycare is a unique experience and it is important to take extra time and make sure they are diseases free.

As a Dog Daycare owner it is very important to make sure all dogs are healthy and free of disease. If a sick dog is found… inform the owner of the dog immediately. Even though sharing bad news is not fun, the dog owner will greatly appreciate the prompt warning. If a sick dog is found… be sure to separate this dog from the group until it is feeling better. This will prevent the spread of disease as well as allowing the sick or infected dog to recuperate without dealing with social pressures in a pack.

Websites like: http://www.dogdaycare-experts.com continue to provide dog daycare owners with quality information. To receive more exciting and valuable resources on the booming Dog Daycare industry stop by their website and sign up for Dog Business Unleashed, a free and informative bi-weekly newsletter.

News Release – Drs. Foster & Smith

For Immediate Release

Feeling that the needs of cat owners were not being adequately served online or off-line, Drs. Foster and Smith have recently launched a comprehensive cat supply web site and 84-page catalog featuring more than 800 products just for cats.

The new Cats.DrsFosterSmith.com web site and Just for Cats catalog offers cat owners a one-stop shopping experience for a wide array of cat supplies, as well as a wealth of informative articles from the doctors on the health and care of cats.

“We didn’t think cats and their owners were getting the attention they deserved,” said Dr. Marty Smith, who, with partner Dr. Race Foster, have owned and operated the nation’s largest pet supply catalog business for more than 15 years. “We’re committed to serving the needs of cat owners with quality products and information to help them provide the best possible care for their cats.”

After reviewing more than 2,000 products made for cats, the doctors personally selected what they felt were the “best of the best” in an array of categories, including cat furniture, healthcare, nutrition, toys, treats, and more. In addition to offering what they say is the largest selection of cat products available on or off the Internet, the doctors also have a number of exclusive products that are unavailable anywhere else.

“We have received a very positive response from cat owners about our new site and catalog,” said Dr. Smith. “They are especially appreciative that we are making a commitment to their special needs, as well as the needs of their cats.”

To visit the new Drs. Foster & Smith cat site, type in http://Cats.DrsFosterSmith.com in your browser. You can request their cat catalog online, or by calling 1-800-323-4208.

There are Over 50 Cat Breeds. What Breed Makes the Best Pet?

There are Over 50 Cat Breeds. What Breed Makes the Best Pet?

(PRWEB) February 21, 2005

Cats are the world’s most popular pets. They are independent but at the same time make for great company. The have minimal maintenance needs but they satisfy any pet owner’s need to cuddle.

There are many different domestic cat breeds, but less than one percent of all cats have pedigrees or are pure breeds. All in all there are about 70-odd breeds. The rest of the cats fall into two main groups: domestic longhair and domestic shorthair. Cats that have a long slender build, almond-shaped eyes and sleek fur are often characterized as Oriental.

For potential cat owners there are many breeds to chose from ranging from a pure cat breed to your standard non-purebred breed, often called an alley-cat.

Exotic cat breeds include the Bengal (a relatively new breed; a cross between the Asian Leopard Cat and the domestic shorthair), Scottish Fold (its ears are folded forward and down), Egyptian Mau (resembles ancient Egyptian cats) and the California Spangled Cat. The most popular longhair variety is the Persian. In fact, Persians are probably the most well-known of all cat breeds, probably because of its long coat. Potential buyers should know that their coat demands a daily program of grooming. But they’ll make up for that with their gentle temperament.

The most popular shorthair variety is the Siamese. The Siamese has blue eyes and colored ears, face, tail and paws in contrast to the rest of the body. This breed has a long and slender body.

How to choose the breed you want?

Although all kittens and cats can have very different personalities, breed specific characteristics can aid in making your decision. Attending a cat show is an excellent way to get a real life idea of what you may expect and to find out what you are really looking for.

Every different breed of cat has its own personal needs, but generally they are flexible and can be accommodated in various homes and apartments and don’t mind being left alone. That’s what makes cat the all-time favorite pet for people with demanding lifestyles and long work hours.

Cat-Breeds-Directory.com is a source of information related to cat breeds, and other cat fun related resources. Cat-Breeds-Directory.com also offers a newsletter, the latest cat news feeds, and features related articles and reviews.
