San Diego, CA (Vocus) March 3, 2008

A new expanded assortment of all-natural, holistic products by Halo Purely for Pets® is making a national debut at PETCO stores nationwide this week offering pet owners even more wholesome foods and care products to help their pets stay healthy and happy.

Halo’s new line, enhanced by freshly redesigned packaging and new products, further expands PETCO’s industry-leading offering of natural and organic pet products. PETCO is the only nationwide pet specialty retailer carrying new Halo products, including new recipes of its signature brand Spot’s Stew, new formulas of dry food for dogs and cats, and Liv-a-Littles, healthy whole meat freeze-dried treats for pets.

PETCO is supporting the new products’ launch by offering 20 percent off to its P.A.L.S. members on purchases of all Halo products made from March 2 to March 23.

The new assortment arrives on PETCO shelves to coordinate with Halo’s announcement that award-winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is now a co-owner of the company.

“We are very excited to be able to offer the newly expanded selection of Halo’s all-natural products to help our customers take great care of their pets,” said Rick Rockhill, PETCO’s merchandise manager for premium, national and specialty dog food. ”We know that Ellen, who is a frequent PETCO shopper, truly loves animals, and we are very happy to partner with her to raise awareness about proper animal care and the benefits of Halo products.”

All animal lovers can now watch a personal message from Ellen DeGeneres on her love for animals and the benefits of Halo products on http://www.PETCO.com.

In its new assortment — available in the more than 900 PETCO stores across the country — Halo expanded its signature recipe canned dog food with the introduction of lamb, beef and salmon varieties. The company also introduced new Halo dry food selections for dogs: Spot’s Stew formulas for adult dogs and puppies.

For cats, Halo offers dry Spot’s Stew formulas for indoor cats and felines with sensitive stomach cat formulas, as well as new can varieties featuring, salmon, turkey and lamb.

All Halo pet food is made from pure, all-natural ingredients such as butcher quality chicken, eggs, carrots, flaxseed, green peas, barley, sweet potatoes and cranberries. All the recipes have been fortified with vitamins, minerals, prebiotics and probiotics. They do not include byproducts, chemical preservatives, fillers, rendered meats, artificial colors or flavors.

Halo’s expanded assortment also includes all-natural pet care products, including Dream Coat, a full range of holistic supplements that support great health, strength and vitality; and Cloud Nine, soothing botanical grooming products free from harsh chemicals, surfactants, coloring and preservatives.

About PETCO:

PETCO is a privately held specialty retailer that provides products, services and advice that make it easier for our customers to be great pet parents. We operate more than 900 stores in 49 states and the District of Columbia, as well as a leading pet products and information destination at http://www.PETCO.com. Our nonprofit organization, The PETCO Foundation, has raised more than $ 34 million since its inception in 1999 to help promote and improve the welfare of companion animals. In conjunction with the foundation, we work with and support more than 4,200 local animal welfare groups across the country to help find homes for more than 200,000 adoptable animals every year.

About Halo Purely for Pets®:

For twenty years, Halo, Purely for Pets, has created holistic pet products of uncompromising quality. At Halo, we believe nutrition is the single most important factor in the quality of your pet’s life. With it, good health follows. By staying as close to nature as we can, we have seen phenomenal changes take place in the lives of thousands of pets and the owners who love them.

In 1986, Andi Brown founded Halo, Purely for Pets® after her cat “Spot” was plagued by digestive problems, skin irritations and excessive shedding. Andi soon learned that all of Spot’s symptoms were a direct result of nutrients lacking in his diet. Finding “premium” cat foods seriously lacking, she created a “stew” made from all natural ingredients and Spot was soon cured of his ailments and healthy again.

Since Halo’s inception, the company has been an active advocate helping conscientious pet owners better understand how nutrition plays a role in their pet’s health and vitality. Named for our belief that pets are our little angels, Halo continues to develop innovative and high quality pet products which help pet-owners better love and care for their ”extra member of the family.”

New Partnership Provides Powerful New Career Tools

New Partnership Provides Powerful New Career Tools

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) November 9, 2010

Career tools enable older job seekers to compete effectively in uncertain economic times.

With the latest jobs report showing an unemployment rate of almost 10%, it is clear that job seekers need to hone their skills before considering a career move or re-entering the job market. Two Silicon Valley companies, OurExperienceCounts.com and NimbleCat today announced a partnership that provides older job seekers with a unique suite of career tools and services which combines weekly webinars, workshops and forums with new resume improvement and job search tools.

“Thanks to the OEC team for developing this important toolset. Your website will make a profound difference for many. Not only is there value for over 40 job seekers, but candidates in their 20′s and 30′s can benefit as well. If you are a professional looking at ‘what’s next’ in your career, I recommend you get started now.” – Gretchen Sand, Senior Partner, Skyline Recruiting Corp. San Jose, CA.

Mike Cassidy of the San Jose Mercury News called OurExperienceCounts.com, “A lifeline for older workers.”

NimbleCat complements these career evaluation and tutorial services with two indispensable items for anyone considering a career move – a real-time resume grading and improvement tool, and a job alert service providing significantly better-targeted job alerts than most major job boards.

The resume improvement tool is based on the NimbleCat score, a relevance metric that compares a resume or social profile with resumes of top performers in that profession and provides guidance on where the job seeker fits with respect to their peers. This relevance metric is also used to rank results returned by the NimbleCat people search engine.

NimbleCat aggregates over a million jobs each month and matches them to provide a daily short list for job seekers. These matched jobs are presented visually on a Google map which enables job seekers to evaluate job opportunities with respect to location, traffic and the availability of local services.

Many of the tools offered by these two companies are free for personal use. Both companies offer paid plans that are suitable for individuals as well as organizations. The partnership of OurExperienceCounts.com and NimbleCat raises the bar by providing career services and tools at a fraction of the price that they could purchase them elsewhere. This enables individuals to advance their own careers, and helps companies of any size to get displaced employees back into the workforce.

OurExperienceCounts.com is an online community dedicated to providing the tools and support necessary for mature, experienced workers to extend their careers or make a career transition. By providing tools specific to the needs of the experienced worker, we enable them to compete successfully in a job market that often chooses youth over experience. With proper guidance and support, candidates will be enabled to develop the personal marketing plan necessary to clearly define how experience and past successes translate into the talents potential employers are seeking.

NimbleCat is the best way to find and connect with professionals on the Internet and connect with them on social networks that they frequent. The company complements its search service with free career tools that are indispensable for anyone considering a career move. NimbleCat was founded by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to bring social search solutions to market for business people, employers and high value professionals.

Go Green with Your Cat on Earth Day

Go Green with Your Cat on Earth Day

Grey Eco Unit

Pontiac, MI (PRWEB) April 22, 2009

Automated Pet Care Products, Inc., the maker of the Litter-Robot™, the only automated, self-cleaning litter box product made in the U.S., encourages pet owners to take a few minutes to consider how they can lessen their cat’s environmental paw print. In celebration of Earth Day 2009, Litter-Robot is giving away a new ECO Unit Litter-Robot ($ 349) and Litter-Robot Ramp. ($ 39.99.) Go to http://www.litter-robot.com/blog/categories/litter-box-news and tell us how you and your pet are trying to reduce your environmental impact. All entries must be received by June 1, 2009 and the winner will be chosen at random on June 8, 2009 and announced on the Litter-Robot Blog at http://www.litter-robot.com/blog.

Automated Pet Care Products is doing their part to offer pet owners eco-friendly pet care products, such as the new ECO Unit Litter-Robot, to help contribute to the protection and sustainability of the planet – while still helping pet owners pamper their beloved cats.

“We are very passionate about building green pet products and use recycled materials in our new ECO Unit Litter-Robot. This is a good first step, but thinking green involves creating durable products that last, allow for repair and can be recycled at their end of useful life,” says Brad Baxter, president of Automated Pet Care Products. “As we celebrate Earth Day it is important that we purchase products that last longer to achieve a higher level of energy and materials savings. Now that’s what we can call a truly green product.”

The Litter-Robot new ECO Unit is the prefect litter management solution that helps cat owners keep their pet ‘green’ and happy. Constructed with high quality, durable, industrial-grade components, the Litter-Robot is built to last and uses 100% recycled plastics in 84% of all the plastic components. The product is backed by a 90-day, money back guarantee and never grows obsolete as new products and enhancements are designed for the Litter-Robot based on customer feedback.

The Litter-Robot saves pet owners money and eliminates the need for expensive waste receptacles and chemical cartridges that are used with other automated litter boxes. Pet owners can line the waste drawer with inexpensive standard 8 and 13-gallon biodegradable garbage bags or recycle large grocery store bags. The Litter-Robot makes cleaning the litter box as easy and inexpensive as changing a garbage bag.

The Litter-Robot self-cleaning litter box works with any clumping litter or biodegradable litters and use up to 50% less cat litter compared with traditional litter boxes. The Litter-Robot is friendlier to the environment than other automated litter boxes because it reduces the landfill input from litter waste, waste receptacles and chemical cartridges.

Using an automated litter box such as the Litter-Robot is just one way for cat owners to lessen their pet’s carbon paw print. Here are a few other tips for ‘Going Green with Your Cat on Earth Day.’

Use biodegradable pet waste bags that are made of renewable, sustainable origin
Choose collars and leashes made of organic cotton, 100% recycled polyester or hemp
Use brushes made of recycled rubber and packaging
Select natural stain, odor and shampoo products
    Choose certified organic catnip
    Buy organic cat treats
Repurpose household items for cat toys (Cardboard boxes, paper, string and paper shopping bags)
Keep your cat indoors or walk him on a leash
Buy cat beds that are made by environmentally aware companies
Choose green litter disposal systems or switch to natural cat litter
Recycle a pet. Don’t shop…adopt a cat from your local animal shelter
Have your cat spayed or neutered

Be sure to register for Litter-Robot’s Earth Day 2009 Giveaway at http://www.litter-robot.com/blog/categories/litter-box-news and tell us how you and your cat are trying to reduce your environmental impact to win a new ECO Unit Litter-Robot and Litter-Robot Ramp. All entries must be received by June 1 and the winner will be announced on June 8 on the Litter-Robot blog.

Veterinarians at MyPetCareTV.com Offer Tips to Keep Your Pets Trim and Healthy for 2009

Veterinarians at MyPetCareTV.com Offer Tips to Keep Your Pets Trim and Healthy for 2009

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2009

Los Angeles, CA – January 14, 2009 — It’s that time of year when we dust off the treadmill and vow to eat better, lose weight and be healthier. But what about your pet? Pets too deserve a healthy and happy New Year. According to a 2007 study by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, 43 percent of dogs – approximately 32 million – are overweight or obese and potentially face serious health problems. Approximately 50% of all adult cats over 7 years of age are obese.

Many pet-owners are unaware that their pet is unhealthy or, according to a recent survey, may be too embarrassed to address the problem with their veterinarian or fellow pet-owners. Vets may even hesitate to broach the sensitive subjects of weight and obesity. Nationally recognized veterinarian Dr. Bernadine Cruz, DVM, one of the resident veterinarian advisors on MyPetCareTV.com, has put together a list of questions pet owners need to ask:

What is obesity?
How does this happen to my pet?
What are the medical concerns?
What can I do as a pet-owner?
Is medical intervention available?

Pet obesity is defined as being 20 percent over ideal body weight. Improved medical care, indoor living and nutritious food have contributed to pets living longer, healthier lives. But a plethora of dining choices and treats, along with pet owners who desire to lavish edible love on their furry family members, have contributed to the expanding problem of dog and cat obesity. Other causes can range from genetics and breed, to over-feeding, lack of exercise, boredom, and old age. Obesity can decrease your pet’s lifespan by 15 percent and decreases the quality of life your pet can live.

How can you determine if you have pudgy pet: with a simple Body Condition Scoring test. With your dog or cat standing, look down on them. You should see an indentation after the ribs. If it looks like a sausage, it’s fat. Place your hand gently on your pet’s ribcage. With slight pressure you should be able to feel its ribs. If you are pinching an inch, it’s fat.

So, what can you do to get your pet back on track? Dr. Cruz has put together some simple steps that can help you develop a “New Year New Pet” regime:

“Dogs are really the easiest to get to slim down. They are much more willing to go for a walk and thankfully most don’t know how to open cans or cupboards,” says Cruz.

Step one – keep the animals out of the kitchen when you are cooking and away from the table when people are eating. It is the rare person who can resist slipping a tidbit to that poor, poor pitiful creature staring at you. It is also a good idea to separate multiple pets at meal times. It is not uncommon for the pet on the diet to finish its controlled portion only to push the other pet away from their food.

Step two – If a dog just has to have a treat because it was the good boy or girl and went potty or some equally talented act…give it a green bean, a baby carrot or piece of apple. If the pet says ‘no way, where is the good stuff’ well you are exonerated because you offered but the pet said no. You can also give a piece of its regular dry food as a treat.

“Cats can be more trying. You can’t put a cat on a very strict diet or just try to tough it out for a day or two by offering food your cat doesn’t like and expect it to change its mind. They can develop a fatal liver condition. Slow is always best for a cat.”

Step one – Cats don’t have to have food available 24/7. Controlled feedings of measured amounts is best. If you must leave food out for your cat, hide it in various spots in the house in small quantities, and then the cat has to search for it.

Step two – Cats can exercise. They just prefer not to. Find what floats your cat’s boat. It may be chasing a laser light or doing acrobatics while playing with a string. Try to set up some regular “play dates” with your cat.

Learn how to improve feeding practices, exercise habits, and to indentify overweight indications particular to cats and dogs, and enjoy even healthier companionship in this new year with the support of MyPetCareTV.com and your veterinarian. Pet owners can go to http://www.MyPetCareTV.com and post more questions and suggestions. Dr. Cruz, along with hundreds of member veterinarians, is available to answer questions and talk with pet owners on the site. Membership is free. MyPetCareTV.com brings pet-owners and veterinarians together in an all-in-one free online resource. With features from social networking to health advice from peers and professionals, MyPetCareTV.com is the Facebook for pets, inviting owners to be a friend to their pet and find community for themselves.

For more information or to schedule an interview with the (human) founders of MyPetCareTV.com or Dr. Cruz please contact Trina Kaye at 915-310-0970 or by email at TrinaKaye (at) tkopr.com.

An Ecommerce Solution that Goes Beyond the Storefront

An Ecommerce Solution that Goes Beyond the Storefront

(PRWEB) November 1, 2004

355 Data Systems (http://www.355ds.com), a Mississippi based Software Development Company, has introduced a new, easy to use, modular Ecommerce System with features not found in traditional Ecommerce solutions.

To celebrate the release of their newest Ecommerce System, 355 Data Systems is offering this entire solution FREE to 50 clients. Hosting and maintenance is priced at less than $ 100.00 per month allowing businesses of any size to take advantage of this powerful ecommerce system.

“When we developed this system, we took search engines into account. Search engines use page titles and descriptions to help them figure out what the page is about. Take a look at many ecommerce systems and you’ll find that all of the product pages have the same title. Worst of all, the title of the page isn’t related to the product at all,” says Don Ferguson, owner of 355 Data Systems. “Our ecommerce system creates product pages with unique page titles and descriptions that describe the product.”

The other problem, common to other ecommerce systems has to do with the content of the website itself. An ecommerce website advertises your product and, as an advertisement, can be compared to other forms of print, radio or television advertising.

355 Data Systems realized a problem with ecommerce systems. They don’t allow the website owner to provide the content to attract visitors. “People don’t listen to radio, read newspapers and magazines or watch television for the commercials,” notes Ferguson.

355 Data Systems has solved this fundamental ecommerce problem. Through the use of image galleries, article and news listings, user forums and product pages, any website owner can add unlimited content to their website. “Clients donÂ?t have to use all the modules, but they are there if needed or desired. Some clients use only the image gallery while others use all modules,” indicates Ferguson.

Consider the example of a fictitious company that sells cat posters. According to Yahoo! subsidiary Overture Services Inc., there were 13,447 searches for “cat poster” in the month of September 2004. There were 92,955 searches for “cat health” in that same month. We can assume that a good percentage of people interested in Cat Health may also be interested in Cat Posters. By adding articles about “cat health” to the website this company will attract a much larger number of targeted visitors to the site. Expand this concept by including a gallery of “cat pictures” (42,539 searches) or listings of “cat names” (34,073 searches).

To learn more about 355 Data System and to qualify for this free ecommerce system visit their website at http://www.355ds.com.

355 Data Systems is a Mississippi based software development company specializing Internet based applications, Intranet applications, Database development and custom desktop applications.

Newly Launched Security Website adds Blog

Newly Launched Security Website adds Blog

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 25, 2009

As times change, people are finding it necessary to arm themselves for protection. Firearms have a lot of safety and age restrictions in many states, but luckily stun guns and pepper spray have less restrictive laws in place, which allows everybody from the elderly to teens to single parents to carry them to protect themselves. The newly launched website, BlackCatPersonalSecurity.com specializes in such items.

“The times are due for something like this,” explained Roger Younkin. “People want to be secure and we’re providing a way for people to be safe.”

Younkin is an entrepreneur who’s tired of watching the nightly news and seeing people turn into victims. Rather than become an armchair editorialist, Younkin took action and recently launched http://www.BlackCatPersonalSecurity.com.

Specializing in self defense products such as cell phone stun guns, pepper spray and stun batons, Black Cat Personal Security has an array of products that will ensure the safety of people who are simply getting through the days.

The web store also has a wide selection of home surveillance products, including hidden cameras, digital audio recorders and wireless entries for doors.

“We try to have something for both the home and the person,” said Younkin. “Personal security just doesn’t have to mean carrying pepper spray with you when you go out jogging, it should also extend to the home front as well.”

Younkin plans on additional products, but in the meantime, he’s started a new informational blog, http://www.BlackCatPersonalSecurityBlog.com.

The blog features tips on where and when to carry self defense weapons and the proper uses of the products. There are also reviews of the items on the blog, ensuring that people who are looking to arm themselves for their safety will be able to choose the right weapons that would suit their needs and security best.

Through an internet portal like BlackCatPersonalSecurity.com, people are able to take a stand and curb their potential to go from being people to becoming victims.

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of dangerous people out there and this is simply a way for innocent folks to be pro-active and recognize that they can do something to ensure their personal well-being.”

IAMS Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive Heats Up

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 21, 2006

This just in … Dogs hold a slight edge over cats halfway through the eighth annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption campaign. So far, 217,819 pets have been adopted and gone to their lifelong homes in the first five weeks of the program.

“What began as a friendly rivalry between dog lovers and cat lovers is turning into a battle for supremacy at pet rescue organizations worldwide. With dog adoptions leading cat adoptions 51.2 percent to 48.8 percent, the battle is heating up,” said Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center and founder of Iams Home 4 the Holidays.

More than 2,491 pet rescue organizations worldwide are participating in this year’s annual campaign with a goal of finding homes for 350,000 animals. This year’s adoption drive runs from Nov. 6, 2006, through Jan. 2, 2007.

After the first five weeks, participants report: 105,507 dogs, 100,429 cats and 11,883 other pets — including rabbits, reptiles, birds and tortoises — have packed up their shelter belongings and moved in with their new families. The total of 217,819 adoptions to date is 23,726 adoptions higher than this same point last year.

“We know that more families invite new pets into their homes during the holidays than any other time of year. All we ask is that people visit their area animal shelter and rescue groups first to find their new furry companion,” said Arms. “In the past seven years, this national program has placed more than one million pets, and we are already well on our way toward another hugely successful year.”

Helen Woodward Animal Center started the Home 4 the Holidays adoption drive back in 1999 with 14 animal shelters in San Diego County. Since that time, it has grown to include shelters and rescue groups from around the globe. As always, during this year’s adoption drive, each new adopting family will receive an Iams Pet Food starter kit containing food samples, coupons and important tips on pet care, behavior, training and nutrition.
